Synopsis: A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.
Director: Samuel Bayer
Writers: Wesley Strick (screenplay & story), Eric Heisserer(screenplay), and Wes Craven (characters)
Stars: Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara and Kyle Gallner
Serious Jest: (Don’t Bother) Bayer is not Craven, and Haley is not Robert Englund–I prefer the old makeup, and Haley’s attempt at a scarier voice ends up sounding like Kenneth Kaniff from Connecticut. I was a big fan of the original, but this attempt to reinvent the Elm Street movies is about as successful as “The New Coke” was. I think that even kids today would enjoy the original movie more than the remake. I hope they don’t make a sequel.
