Serious Jest:  (Theater)  16 years later, I still find myself glued to the screen every time this film is on.  Apparently, it is extremely loosely “based” on the actual historical events and people that it purports to portray.  Nevertheless, everything else about this movie is extremely well done: the dialogue is compelling; the acting is convincing (not only is Gibson passionate and inspiring in his portrayal of William Wallace, but James Robinson, as young William, did an amazing job conveying raw emotion through superior mostly-non-verbal acting, as well); the scenery is beautiful; the score is riveting; and the battles are so exciting, we used clips from this film as motivational video in various Marine Corps schools I attended.  Watch this movie immediately if you haven’t seen it yet…buy this film if you don’t already own it!
