Plot Summary: Lucas Hood (Antony Starr), an ex-con and master thief, assumes the identity of a murdered sheriff where he continues his criminal activities. His past seems to haunt him by those he betrayed years earlier. This ex-con imposes his own brand of justice where violence erupts at every turn in the not-so-quiet Amish town, Banshee, Pennsylvania. Serious Jest: (Queue It) I just happened to have Cinemax on in the background while I was working on something one night, when the season premier of this show came on. Within a couple of minutes, I was glued to my screen, and I had forgotten what I was working on.
This series is non-stop action and borderline-addictive. Even the camera work stands out. There are also healthy doses of appropriately-placed sex scenes.
Warning: this show will push the boundaries of probability, but thankfully it doesn’t quite play with the net down.
Alas, Starr is yet another example of a great American hero played by a European…but he is undeniably awesome. Milicevic is every bit his equal and female counterpart; she displays intensity reminiscent of Milla Jovovich. And Hoon Lee is both funny and thorough. #CoolestDragQueenEver
Still, Thomsen steals the show, as one of the most gangsta gangsters I’ve ever seen. His lines are masterfully written and perfectly delivered. Kai Proctor is the Amish Marsellus Wallace.
I could go on about every actor, as they all nail their roles. You may very well have a favorite character that I didn’t get to mention above, and there are still some characters that have only scratched the surface of their depth. But stop wasting time reading about how awesome the series is, and go watch it!
