My Name is Earl (2005-2009)



Plot Summary: A ne’er do well wins $100,000 in the lottery and decides to right all the wrongs from his past with his newfound realization.

Serious Jest: animated beer mug 25% (transparent bkgrd)animated beer mug 25% (transparent bkgrd)animated beer mug 25% (transparent bkgrd) (Casual Watch)  Garcia masterfully created a light-hearted comedy about a run-down town of low-lifes, with relatively-clean jokes, and heart-warming life lessons…an awesome concept, an exceptional cast, clever plots, and witty dialogue…this show would have been a Queue It if it hadn’t ended so abruptly.  It’s not Garcia’s fault that it got cancelled (stupid Nielsen ratings strike again!), but the fact that you never get to see the completion (or failure of completion) of the List, and that the show ends on a cliff-hanger, definitely keeps me from saying that you should follow this plotline from beginning to completion.  That being said, most of the episodes stand on their own…you don’t have to have watched other episodes in order to enjoy them, but some of the jokes build over the course of the different seasons, so it’s more enjoyable if you do watch the show from the beginning.  In any case, I’d qualify this series as a pop-culture icon, and recommend you watch at least one episode so you can see for yourself what all the hype is about, how bad-ass Lee’s moustache is, and how hot Nadine Velazquez and Pressly are.
